'An apple a day keeps the doctor away' is a saying that has been around for some time. Apples are well known for their health benefits including being high in fiber, flavonol rich (helping reduce the risk of cancer) and full of antioxidants.
The recipe below is one that I had with lunch a couple of days ago and includes stewed apple. The spinach is optional, but a good way to add in greens. If you find it isn't sweet enough for you, you could add a little raw honey.
1/4 cup stewed apple (i prefer to leave skin on the apples and add cinnamon while stewing it)
1-2 handfuls of spinach leaves
2 tsp nut butter (almond butter or ABC butter)
150 mls water
1-2 pinch's of good quality of cinnamon
Place all in your blender and blitz until smooth.
Enjoy.... a great smoothie as we head into colder months. If you prefer a thinner consistency add more water.
